Cypress Lumber from Heartwood Lumber

While cypress is sold at lumber specialty dealers nationwide, here at Heartwood, we sell only kiln-dried, NHLA inspected/ graded cypress. Only our beams and post are sold green. We sell both select and two common grades in 4/4, 5/4, 8/4 thickness, 6′-16′ long, 4″-12″ wide.

Cypress Lumber

Steadfast quality, lasting beauty.

Discover a true Southern treasure that adds grace and durability to a variety of construction projects, large or small. Commonly know as Bald Cypress or Southern Yellow Cypress, this beautiful specimen is iconic to the Southern landscape growing prolifically in low-lying wet areas along creeks or rivers with large swelled butts and “knees” that emerge from roots in surrounding waters. Extremely rot resistant and highly stable, cypress is classified as a hardwood even though it produces cones similar to pine.

Versatile as well as beautiful.

Truly a “honey” to work with, this honey-colored wood is very easy to handle and takes paint, stain, and finishes evenly and effortlessly, making it the ideal for choice for all kinds of applications.

Cypress Lumber Grades

Select Cypress

Select Cypress is virtually clear product, free from large knots and defects and Heartwood’s Select Cypress is a 100% usable end to end product. It may contain small dime sized knots or pin knots. It is perfect for modern architecture where a clean homogeneous surface is required.

#2 Select Cypress

#2 SELECT CYPRESS is used where a more natural appearance in desired and is a 100% usable end to end product. Heartwood Lumber’s #2 Select Cypress contains knots but the “Select” means that it has been hand-picked during manufacturing to be free from the open knot holes, cracks and splits that mar our competitor’s products.

Pecky Cypress

Pecky Cypress is defined by the unique holes that are caused by a specific fungus when the tree is alive. Once the tree is cut the fungi die and a beautiful unique lumber is left. Once thought of as trash, pecky cypress has become increasingly popular.
