Commonly known as Tulip Poplar, this gorgeous Eastern exemplar is most often favored for interior millwork or furniture. While its soft grain makes it easy to mill. its varying colors make it uniquely beautiful. While most of the poplar tree’s wood is creamy white, the heart of the tree produces dramatically resplendent shades of brown, green, purple, or black, making variegated heart poplar a prize commodity for artistic applications. Poplar can be nailed or glued with ease and takes paints extremely well, making it a favorite for DIY home projects or professional contract work. The whiter wood and heartwood are sold separately.
